Format
Nine races. One world title.
The 2027 World Championship is sailed as a single fleet over nine races across five race days, after three days of practice on the same water.
The Asia Pacific Championship runs in the days before. Racing, scoring and eligibility rules will be set out in the Notice of Race, due late 2026 in line with International Etchells Class Association rules.

The Club
The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club on Kellett Island, Causeway Bay, is the home of sailing in Hong Kong. For the championship it is where your boat arrives, where it is measured, and where you register.
On the harbour front
A 15-minute walk from The Park Lane, the event hotel. About 15 minutes on foot from Causeway Bay MTR station, or a short taxi ride. From the airport, allow around 40 minutes by taxi.
Your club for the fortnight To be confirmed
Competitors receive temporary membership of the club during the championship. We expect it to include:
- Clubhouse access for skippers and registered crew
- Bars and restaurants
- Changing rooms and showers
- Swimming pool
- Wi-Fi
Guest access through the Race Office. Full details follow with the Notice of Race.
Arrival and measurement
Containers are delivered to the club, where boats are unloaded, prepared and measured before racing. Dates, slots and equipment inspection details follow with the Notice of Race.

Registration and the Race Office are at the club. Opening hours will be published closer to the event.
Evenings at the club
Wednesday's daily prizegiving is in the Kellett Island Main Bar, and the championship closes with the Prizegiving and Gala Dinner in the Compass Room.

Where the fleet sails from
The race base
Every race day starts and ends at Clearwater Bay Marina in Sai Kung, minutes from the racing area. Open water, clear November light, and a lawn for the daily prizegiving.
Coach and taxi To be confirmed
A coach service between The Park Lane and the marina is planned for race days. By taxi, Clearwater Bay is about 45 minutes from Causeway Bay.
A berth for every boat To be confirmed
Every entered boat will have a berth at the marina for the championship. Berth allocation and marina rules follow with the Notice of Race.
Getting your boat to the marina To be confirmed
There is no crane at Clearwater Bay. How boats move from Kellett Island to the marina, and back after racing, will be set out in the Notice of Race.
Cars and trailers To be confirmed
Parking arrangements for competitors and support crews will be confirmed closer to the event.
Dock-out and back
The fleet docks out from the marina every race day. Sailing Instructions will set the times.
Daily prizegiving
From 18:30 on every racing day, on the marina lawn. Come in sailing kit.

Your two bases
Ashore and afloat
The club on Hong Kong Island is your home ashore. The marina at Clearwater Bay is where the fleet berths and sails from every race day.
Direct from most sailing nations
Hong Kong International Airport has non-stop flights to Australia, Europe, North America and across Asia.
MTR, ferries and taxis
An Octopus card covers the MTR, buses, trams and the Star Ferry. Clearwater Bay is about 45 minutes by car from Kellett Island. Uber and taxis are plentiful.
The Park Lane
The official event hotel, in Causeway Bay a 15-minute walk from the Kellett Island clubhouse. Event rates will be shared with entrants.
